Out with the Old: How to Donate

It doesn’t have to be Spring to go through your stuff and realize you have too much.

The good news is that you don’t have to throw it out. There are more options than ever when it comes to donating to good causes.

Try one of these ideas if you want to make a little room in the attic:

  • Local Nonprofits – Many local nonprofits, particularly those that help people experiencing homelessness, will take anything in good condition. Check your area to see organizations that help others.
  • Schools – That old couch may be perfect for the teacher’s lounge. Schools are often underfunded and can use certain items.
  • Religious Organizations – Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, and other faith organizations usually welcome items for their use or for the stores, soup kitchens, or shelters they may support.
  • Will Haul – Check and see who in your area will come to pick up your donations, saving you a trip.

Not only will this free up that embarrassing part of your garage, but it can also make you feel a little better about yourself in the process.
